This is the original moka pot developed by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. The Bialetti stovetop espresso maker is constructed of polished aluminum and bears a distinctive eight-sided shape. It features a dual chamber system that creates a pressurized, aromatic brewed coffee. Although it's called a stovetop espresso maker, please don't confuse the end result with properly extracted espresso. The Bialetti and all stovetop "espresso" makers are better labeled stovetop "coffee" makers. The Bialetti will produce an inherently aromatic coffee that is more European in style than most American coffee. You will find it slightly more intense.
Here's how they work:
1. The maker separates in the middle. Remove the top and fill the base with water.
2. Insert the funnel with coffee. The Bialetti works best with a course ground coffee.
3. Re-attach the top and place over low heat.
4. In about 5-10 minutes, depending on your heat source, the upper chamber will fill with brewed coffee.
5. Pour and enjoy an aromatic and slightly more intense coffee.
The Bialetti stovetop espresso maker is made in Italy and available in three sizes: 3 cup, 6 cup and 9 cup
