The Gaggia Baby Twin espresso machine is a little different than the average semi-automatic machine. For starters, it features a dual heating system. The dual heating system utilizes a brew boiler for brewing espresso and a thermoblock for steaming milk. This means that, unlike most single boiler machines, the Baby Twin needs no wait time after brewing to reach the correct steaming temperature.
The other distinguishing feature is the touch-ring control panel. For a closer look, see the first thumbnail photo. Unlike many semi-automatic machines, the Baby Twin features a touch-button panel that allows you to program the shot volume on two different brewing buttons. Program a single shot of espresso on one button and a lungo on the other. In the alternative, program any combination that pleases you. For your convenience, there is also a manual brew button, a button to control hot water and a button to control steam. The steam knob is located on top of the machine.
In keeping with commercial quality, the brew group and portafilter are constructed of chrome-plated marine brass. This commercial style of construction aids in heat retention and improves the shot quality. The dual spout portafilter measures 58mm and includes three filter baskets: a single, double and one for ESE pods. For easy cleaning, the dispersion screen comes out by removing a single screw.
The Baby Twin also features: a three-way solenoid valve, a pump that’s powerful enough to properly extract espresso, a cup warmer, stainless steel Turbo Frother steam wand attachment, stainless drip tray cover and a removable 60 oz. water reservoir.
