The la Pavoni Europiccola with the black base (EPBB-8) can be distinguished from the chrome base Europiccola in three ways. 1) The black-base model does not include the additional frothing attachment. On this model, milk is frothed with the traditional steam wand which includes a well-designed three hole tip. 2) The base is not chrome. 3) The black-base Europiccola is $60.00 less expensive than the chrome-base la Pavoni Europiccola. All other features remain the same.
The la Pavoni EPBB-8 can easily produce .8 BAR of pressure. It also has two same important safety systems that prevent damage from over heating. 1) It has a built in, resettable thermostat that will shut the boiler off it reaches unsafe temperatures. 2) The pressure relief valve automatically opens to relieve excessive pressure inside the boiler.
The construction of the boiler and portafilter on every la Pavoni Europiccola is made of the same quality materials. The boiler is constructed of nickel plated, solid brass to ensure that the proper water temperature can be easily reached and maintained. The exterior of the boiler is triple chrome plated for durability. The nonpressurized portafilter is constructed of 12 oz. of solid chromed brass.
