Unlike the Talea Ring Plus, the Saeco Primea Ring espresso machine has an integrated milk frothing system. Simply pour the desired amount of fresh cold milk into the 12 ounce milk container, insert it into the Primea Ring, and then press the froth button. Watch as perfectly steamed and frothed milk is dispensed. When you choose a latte, latte macchiato, or a cappuccino from the beverage menu, the Saeco S-PR-SC utilizes a dual function dispensing spout to place both espresso and frothed milk into your cup. You can even select the option of dispensing hot milk by itself. In addition, you can select either one or two beverages to be prepared at the same time. If you want to double the size of the selected beverage, simply choose that option from the menu. It really is that easy.

The Primea Ring features Saeco's unique "Coffee of the World" special brewing functions. Choose among SEVEN programmed beverages from a strong espresso (ristretto), traditional Italian espresso, Northern European coffee, traditional French/Swiss style coffee, traditional American coffee, and a traditional latte macchiato. In addition to the Coffee of the World selections, the Saeco Primea Ring also allows you to select an additional EIGHT customizable beverage choices including hot water, coffee, espresso, latte, macchiato, and cappuccino.

The "Ring" in the title of this model comes from Saeco's new touch sensitive "control ring" located in the center of the control panel. You can scroll through the Primea Ring's many brewing options by moving your finger around the control ring. As you scroll, all of the machine's brewing options are displayed on the digital screen. Once you have scrolled to the desired setting or brewing option, simply press the coffee cup icon in the center of the ring.

With the advanced features of the Primea Ring you can: follow prompts on the digital message screen, program coffee strength and ounces to be brewed per cup, switch between espresso or coffee options instantly, change coffee temperature, use pre-ground coffee in addition to whole coffee beans, adjust the built-in coffee grinder for fine tuning, program the special pre-brew coffee conditioning system, view messages in multiple languages, view the cup counter, program the energy saving mode and timer, adjust the water hardness setting, dispense hot water for tea or hot chocolate, and more. The Primea Ring remembers all of the settings you program, including the grind settings.

Detailed Product Features of the Saeco Primea Ring:

Unique Integrated Milk Frothing System
Simply fill the integrated 12 ounce milk container and insert it into the left side of the Primea Ring espresso machine. When you choose a milk based drink like a latte, cappuccino, or macchiato from the menu options, the Primea Ring will automatically draw milk from the container, and perfectly steam and froth it. While this is happening, the Primea Ring will also be preparing the coffee - both the milk and the coffee will automatically dispense right into your cup. If you want to make a cafe mocha, feel free to use chocolate milk in the container. And of course, the Saeco Primea Ring will froth the chocolate milk for perfect hot chocolate. The milk container can be stored in the refrigerator when not in use.

Pre-Ground Coffee Option
This Saeco Primea Ring allows you to use either whole coffee beans or pre-ground coffee. For the pre-ground option, pour pre-ground coffee into a funnel that is accessed by lifting a small lid on top of the Primea Ring. Select the "pre-ground" option using the Ring control, then pour pre-ground coffee into the coffee receptacle. Press the brew button and you’re done. After making a cup of coffee with the pre-ground option, the Saeco Primea Ring automatically resets back to the beans held in the machine.

Special Pre-infusion Brew System Cycle
Pre-infusion allows you to get maximum flavor from the brewing process. This advanced system takes the newly ground coffee beans from the internal coffee grinder and correctly tamps the coffee. Next comes “pre-infusion.” To optimize the flavor extraction, a little hot water is injected into the freshly ground coffee. This is done just before the actual brew cycle commences. The grounds are pre-soaked and then brewed before being automatically discarded into the internal dump box. The Primea Ring then resets itself for the next brewing cycle. The Saeco Primea Ring offers programming options for the pre-infusion cycle and infusion time.

The Saeco Brewing System - SBS
The Saeco Primea Ring features the Saeco Brewing System (SBS) This ingenious system allows you to make an infinite variety of coffees from just one automatic machine and at the mere twist of a knob. Whether it is an intense Italian ristretto (turn the knob to the right) or an American-style long coffee (turn the knob to the left), SBS satisfies all tastes giving a full flavor and a truly unique creamy finish. Moreover the coffee dose in the extraction chamber is fully exploited, thanks to the pressure, which remains constant throughout the extraction cycle. This way, all of the aroma is concentrated in the cup, offering you a superb creamy finish and a truly rich flavor.

Ceramic Coffee Grinder
The ceramic grinder is Saeco's most recent innovation. After careful research, Saeco chose this material to put an end to grinding with metal components. Ceramic was chosen because it's an inert material. It ensures the best results without altering the flavor of coffee. The new ceramic grinder produces a more consistent grind, reduces the amount of coffee residue left in the cup and is more quiet to operate. Thanks to the sturdy build, the ceramic coffee-grinder will grind to the same high standard for a long time.

Aqua Prima Water Filter
The Saeco Primea Ring features an Aqua Prima water filter. With Aqua Prima, the number of flavor-altering substances found in water are reduced and any micro-particles and impurities are filtered. Enjoy the improved flavor and full aroma of your coffee. Aqua Prima also reduces the formation of lime scale in the machine.

Built-in 68 Ounce Water Tank
The water reservoir can be easily refilled while it is still on the machine or by removing it with the easy-grip handle and filling it at the kitchen tap. The reservoir is made of clear ABS plastic so checking the water level is a breeze.

For Perfect Coffee Extraction - a Powerful Pump

Coffee Bean Storage Hopper & Internal Waste Box
The built in, lidded coffee bean hopper holds 1/4 lb of coffee beans. When the coffee grounds are spent, the Saeco Primea Ring delivers them to the internal dump box. The internal dump box can hold up to 15 expended coffee portions. On the Primea Ring, the internal dump box is extremely easy to remove and clean.

Stainless Steel Heating System
The Primea Ring espresso machine features a durable stainless steel boiler that provides for continuous use or a lot of servings over a short time period.

Adjustable Drip Tray
The Saeco Primea Ring espresso machine has an automated adjustable height drip tray that raises or lowers the cups below the coffee dispensing spouts. By pressing the button on the drip tray either up or down, a motor will automatically raise or lower the tray to the desired height.

Heated Cup Stacking Surface

Cleaning & Maintenance of Components
Automated Cleaning System - Milk
The Saeco Primea Ring makes it easy to clean the milk frothing system. After each use, the machine will prompt you to rinse the system. This process is automated and simply entails using the spare milk container that comes with machine. Fill it with water and place it into the machine and choose the milk rinsing cycle from the menu. The machine will draw the water through the milk tubes and rinse the left over milk. Depending on the amount of usage, the machine will prompt you to perform a more thorough cleaning using the milk detergent, usually every 2 weeks. This procedure is similar to the daily rinse cycles, but you will be using the specially formulated milk cleaner that removes milk residue that may build up in the system.
It may sound complicated to maintain the milk system. However, the amount of time this system saves in frothing far outweighs the time it takes to clean it.

Keeping the Rest of the Machine Healthy

The inside of an espresso machine must be cleaned periodically. Scale buildup from naturally occurring minerals in your water can build up on sensitive components. Left unchecked, the build up can cause considerable damage to the machine. By descaling your machine every two-three months, your machine will last for many trouble-free years. The machine will tell you when it’s time to activate the self-clean system. After adding the cleaner, just press the clean button. The machine will take it from there. Descaling and general cleaning is important even if you have a sophisticated water filter system, and especially if you use well water.

Other parts of the Saeco Primea Ring are easy to clean too. Used coffee grounds are collected in the internal dump box. Simply empty it, wash it and replace. Wastewater left over from the rinsing cycles is stored in a removable drip tray. When the indicator light illuminates, simply pull out the tray, empty and reinsert in seconds. All components such as the used grounds container, drip tray, and water reservoir tank can be hand washed with regular soap and water.
